If you canvassed, thank you.

If you phone-banked, thank you.

If you wrote postcards, thank you.

If you voted, thank you.

If you drove people to the polls, thank you.

If you worked the polls, thank you.

If you inspired people to register to vote, thank you.

If you inspired someone who hasn’t voted in years to vote, thank you.

If you attended local meetings, thank you.

If you paid a sitter so you could attend said local meetings, thank you.

If you brought people with you to said local meetings, thank you.

If you walked / rode your bike / or carpooled to any of it, thank you.

If you wrote to your elected officials, thank you.

If you talked with your neighbors about difficult topics–in a civil manner–thank you.

If you read the minutes of local meetings, thank you.

If you’ve realized that the foundation of our democracy begins at the hyper-local level, thank you. I really, really appreciate you.

Our challenge will be to build on these efforts, no matter what tomorrow morning brings.
